In 1993, the largest class of black students in Yale’s history arrive on campus, just as the country enters the period known as the Great American Divide, the unofficial beginning of today’s culture wars. Together, these students create an education that challenges the past while the past fights to remain–told against the backdrop of the Supreme Court’s 2023 decision to no longer allow race as a consideration in college admissions.

Presented by the JBS Community and Equity Partnership, a post film discussion will feature an engaging panel discussion featuring Yale Chief Resident and graduate Dr. Amanda Calhoun, a passionate anti-racist activist. This event will tackle critical questions surrounding diversity and inclusion in educational settings, the unique challenges the Black student body faces, and the implications of recent Supreme Court decisions on educational equity nationwide.
